Yesterday I gave a new presentation to the Philly Code Camp on Mobile Web Development. I have posted my slide deck on SlideShare.com if you want to see the deck. The 10 Things I discuss and demonstrate in this talk are:
- Why Mobile Web
- Determine Content
- Understand The Viewport
- Progressive Enhancement
- Understand HTML
- Use List
- Understand CSS
- AJAX
- Touch Gestures
- Images
- Bonus: Fidelizing
I know Mobile application are all the rage right now, but having a solid mobile web strategy is probably an even more important than an application strategy in the long run. I personally believe and I surveys are already showing demand for mobile applications will wane in the next year or two. Developing strong a mobile web presence ensures your customers will have a useful and enjoyable experience on their mobile device.
I want to thank everyone in the Philly .NET community for another top notch Code Camp event. If you have never made it to the Philly Code Camp I highly recommend putting it on your list of events. I have attended Code Camps in at least a dozen or more states now and Philly is one of the best.
It is well organized. the community is really sharp and interactive. The venue, Devry University Ft. Washington, is clean, modern and spacious. Each of these are very important to making a Code Camp great.
My next Code Camp will be Raleigh, November 6th, my sort of old stomping ground at this point! It feels odd going to Raleigh for a Code Camp I used to organize, so I am very excited. I have not heard back which talk(s) I will be giving yet, but I will let you know.
